This is not a government or law-enforcement office. Do not send case documents, Social Security numbers, payment-card details, or requests for emergency help to this website. Contact the responsible official agency or call 911 for an emergency.
Start With the Issuing Court
The Scott County Circuit Clerk can route a public circuit-file question and help identify the relevant division. Call 573-545-3596. Ask whether the case number belongs to circuit court or a municipal division, what public docket entry is available, and which office can confirm the current setting. Clerks can explain procedure and records; they cannot give legal advice.
For a defined copy request, use the county's official record-request form. It states a $5 copy fee and an estimated five to ten business days. That copy fee is not bond, a fine, or a warrant-recall charge. Describe the exact document, case number, and relevant years rather than requesting a broad list of people.
Sheriff and Jail Questions
The Scott County Sheriff's Office is the county service and custody route. The official sheriff information lists the office behind the courthouse and connected with the Judicial Building. Because county pages describe the location in more than one way, telephone before visiting. Use the Sheriff for legitimate agency routing and the jail for current custody or after-hours bond logistics.
The county jail operates on a different timetable from weekday records offices. Jail staff do not issue or recall warrants and cannot give legal advice. Ask which court set bond, what payment methods are accepted, what identifying information is needed, and where a receipt will be issued. The issuing judge controls changes to court process.
City Cases Need the City Route
- Sikeston: municipal clerk numbers 573-475-3705 and 573-471-2512; Department of Public Safety 573-471-6200.
- Scott City: Municipal Court clerk 573-264-2006; Police Department 573-264-2121.
- Chaffee: City Hall 573-887-3558; Police Department 573-887-6911; confirm the current courtroom.
- Oran: Police Department 573-262-3942; use the Circuit Clerk for the current municipal court route.
- Miner: listed court clerk 573-471-8512; current police routing 573-471-8568; verify the published schedule.
A police number is not automatically a court-record line. Ask city clerks about dockets, dates, payment eligibility, and recall; use police contacts only for appropriate non-emergency agency questions.
Prepare Before Calling
Write down the full name used on the citation, case or ticket number, issuing city or division, filing year, charge description, original court date, and the narrow question you need answered. Useful questions include whether an FTA or warrant entry exists, whether a new date has been set, whether appearance is mandatory, whether bond is set, and what written order proves any recall.
Avoid asking an office to search an unrelated private person. Do not email unnecessary dates of birth or other sensitive identifiers. If counsel is involved, let the attorney coordinate a surrender or motion rather than relying on general website information.
Scams and Verification
Scott County has warned about official-looking text scams. Treat unsolicited demands for immediate warrant payment, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or remote access as suspect. Find the agency number independently, call it, and ask whether the communication is genuine. A caller's display name is not proof.
After any payment or appearance, keep the receipt and ask separately for the docket entry, order, or new-setting notice. Payment and judicial recall are distinct events.
